Adventure Of Himachal Pardesh
Himachal Pradesh offers exquisite locations for parasailing, which have no equal. Its glades provide ideal launching ramps and the winds in the valleys keep you airborne for as long as you want. There are two main areas for parasailing in Himachal Pradesh. There is the Solang Nala near Manali, which is very popular because it is easy to get to, offers incredible flights along the Pir Pinjal range and the headwaters of the Beas River and is only a few miles from civilization.

Para-Gliding
The smooth peak of Billing, in Kangra, is the sight of this adventurous sport. Since 1984 the region facilitates 5 national and 3 international hang-gliding rallies every year. A fairly recent sport- para-gliding that has invariably acquired distinction is held at various places in the state - Bundla Dhar near Bilaspur, in the kullu valley and at Intkali in the Pabbar valley near Rohru in Shimla district.
Angling
Himachal is an angling paradise facilitating several shallow waters for trout and mahaseer fishes, besides Brown and Rainbow Trout are also to be found in the river streams. Rohru in the Pabbar valley at Shimla have several spots absolute for fishing. Kinnaur's Baspa River in the Sangla valley and Uhl River near Barot also hold trout. The reservoir of the Maharana Pratap Sagar leading to the town of Dehra and Gobind Sagar near Bilas
pur are other location for angling.
Water and River Sports River-rafting or white-water rafting and other river water sports are also available on the waters of Gobind Sagar nearBilaspur, the Chamera Lake near Dalhousie and at the Manali-Kullu National Highway.
Mountaineering and Rock Climbing
The hills around Manali, presently forms the essence of mountaineering in Himachal. The Chandra Bhaga ranges the Pir Panjal and Dhalaudhar ranges are quite captivating. The State also has several other areas where Institute of Mountaineering and Allied Sports, Manali and its branch at Dharamsala (Kangra) offer this activity.
Adventure with Golf
Ahead of Shimla is the sight of oldest golf courses in India. Naldera - 23km from Shimla is the idle location for golf course. Initially the British Viceroy of India- Lord Curzon inaugurated the course by seeing the natural topography of the region. This is a 9-hole course that is considered as one of the most challenging in the country. Another course more popular, at Annandale in Shimla is also a nine hole course managed by the army, beside these there is one more golf course popular among the tourists at the hilly ground of Khajjiar - 22 km from Dalhousie and 24- km from Chamba .
Heli-Skiing
For altitudinous mountain stimulation nothing can surmount the occultism of heli-skiing. Heli-Skiing is quite thrilling as beneath the vast blue skies the adventure seekers are conveyed by a helicopter to a snowcapped peak. A foray of ten minutes can carry the skiers to the top of a 14000 feet high slope. It is a breathtaking adventure as one speedily buzz down the hilly slopes. Ice Skating
The Shimla ice-skating rink has the largest open-air area with naturally frozen ice in this part of the world and the Ice-Skating Club has already celebrated its Diamond Jubilee. Figure skating, speed skating or ice - hockey - one can try his hand at any of these available at the Shimla Ice Rink. Fancy-dress carnivals, 'gymkhanas', ice hockey and dances enliven every season.
Skking of Himachal Pradesh
There are very good slopes in Kullu , Lahaul & Spiti, Kinnaur and Shimla areas, which have been surveyed by the government for development them in a big way. Skiing in Himachal is a very old recreational activity, which was introduced by British Army officers in 1930 when they explored the Kufri slopes about 12-km from Shimla on the Hindustan Tibet road.

By jeep, car or on motorcycle, you can explore the
variety Himachal has to offer. By jeep, the Trans Himalayan tracts can steadily unfold their natural and man-made wonders. Along one of the world's highest highways, you can drive out of Manali, cross the Rohtang pass (3980 m), and move through arid Lahaul to Leh and Ladakh. From Shimla, through picturesque Kinnaur, you drive through the haunting landscapes of Spiti - and over the Kunzam Pass (4551 m), enter Lahaul.
Himachal has an extensive network of roads and tracks - and apart from the routes mentioned above, there are several others you can traverse on. By car, driving over the more demanding routes may not be possible, but in no way does this curtail the range of experience. And motorcycles may impose some limitations, but are again a wonderful way of sharing the wonders of Himachal.
