Moreover, each of the lake has a legend attached to it which makes it all the more attractive. Quiet a few hot springs are also there in the state which make for an interesting visit.

Rewalsar Lake
Located at an altitude of 1360m and a distance of 24 km from Mandi town, the Rewalsar Lake is square in shape. The legend behind the lake states that it was formed when at the orders of the king Arshadhara of Zahor, his own daughter and Padmasambhava were punished. The latter was burnt alive in secluded place which for around a week after it continued to be covered by smoke. The king, rather surprised, visited the place himself and found out that a lake had appeared at the place. The king apologized to the saint and married off his daughter to Padamsambhava. From then onward, the lake became a pious place for Buddhist. The Hindus too have their own beliefs that make the lake sacred for them.The Lake is famous for its floating island which is believed to house the spirit of Padamasambhava. There is also a small zoo located close by the lake. 
Khajjiar Lake
At an altitude of 1900 metres in district Chamba,16 k.m. from Dalhousue and 25 k.m.from Chamba. Fed by tiny streams,this small lake lies at in the centre of large Khajjiar glade. The glade and the lake are held sacred to Khajjinag- after whom the place is named. Khajjiar has thick forest of the Kalatope sanctury surrounding its soft green grass.

At an altitude of 4270 metres near the Rohtang pass that connects district Kullu andLahaul. Also known as Dashaur and Sarkund this attractive lake has a depth of 3 metres.
Seruvalsar Lake
At an altitude of 3100 metres in district Kullu 20 k.m. from Ani in the direction of thejalori pass. This lake has a picturesque setting amidst
pine forest.
Prashar Lake
At an altitude of 2730 metres in district Mandi, 40 k.m. from Mandi town.The deep blue water at this beautiful lake is held sacred to the sage Prashar. A three tiered Pagoda-like temple dedicated to the sage lies by the lake - ‘rishi’ Prashar is said to have meditated here. Its remarkable setting is enhanced by a frame of snow draped peaks visible from the lake’s edge, the water of the river Sutlej flows due south. The lake side and the near by villages are sites of various festival held at different times of the year.
Bhrigu Lake
At an altitude of 4235 metres in district Kullu, this lies east of the Rohtang Pass and isabout 6 k.m. from the village of Gulaba. The shores of this clear water lake are devoid of human habitation-yet it is visited regularly by the people of the area and is held sacred to ‘rishi’ Brighu. It also lies on several trek routes of the region.
Chamera Lake
In district Chamba, this is the reservoir of the Chamera dam built over the river Ravi. Phase-I of the project generates 540 MW of electricity. Phase-II which is under way will add another 300 MW. The lake offers a variety of water sports.
Dal Lake
Situated at a height of 1775m above sea-level, Dal Lake comes under the region of Kangra district, which is 11 km away from Dharamsala. Nestling amidst lush green forests of deodar trees, the Dal Lake is famous for its scenic beauty and pilgrimage center.
On the bank of Dal Lake a famous Lord Shiva temple is located, which is considered to be very sacred. Every year during the month of September, a huge number of tourists flock to the Dal Lake to attain famous festival celebrated to mark the presence of Lord Shiva.
