Amber Fort
Constructed in 1592, the awe-inspiring Amber Fort is located atop the sandstone Nagpahari hillock overlooking the serene Maotha Lake
on the outskirts of the main Jaipur city.
Built by Raja Man Singh and his successors, Amber Fort stands as a proud reminder of the exotic building skills of the artisans of the yesteryears. Amber was the capital of the valiant Mina tribes and was the center of the royal family for a long time till the Old Jaipur city was built.

The main structures within the Amber Fort that are bound to fascinate you include the spectacularly pillared Diwan-i-Aam, the Dil-e-Aaram Mughal gardens, Sheesh Mahal with its intricately mirrored walls and colorful mica motifs and the Jas Mandir that showcases a profusion of traditional Rajputana jali work.
The Shila Mata Temple and the Kali Temple located within the Amber Fort are also worth visiting.It is believed that before setting out on battles the Maharajas would pray to the Goddess Kali at the Kali Temple for strength, courage and victory.
Some of the room walls at the massive Amber Fort are frescoed with life like depictions of hunting and war scenes.Be charmed at the skill with which small pieces of mirror have been used to decorate the walls of certain rooms.
