Mussoorie
Mussoorie offers a wonderful
view of the Himalayan snow ranges to the north-east and the Doon Valley., Roorkee, Saharanpur and Haridwar to the South, creating an almost serene atmosphere for the tourists. Mussoorie was discovered by Captain Young, an adventurous military officer in 1827. He was lured by the extraordinarily beautiful ridge and laid the foundation of it. Mussoorie is also a Gateway to the “Gangotri” and the “Yamunotri” shrines
Mussoorie,the queen of hill stations, is famous for its scenic beauty, gay social life and entertainment.The excellent climate makes it an attractive holiday resort. Thronged by holidayers, it vibrates with gaiety and merry making during the summer season. There are no steep inclines and the more adventurous can undertake enjoyable excursions to various beauty spots in the vicinity. Mussoorie affords glorious views of the mights Himalayan peaks. Kempty falls which are about 11 kms. from the town attract hundreds of people every day. The Bhatta falls are also famous for scenic beauty.

Mussoorie are several ancient s
hrines, including the Nag Devta Temple 6 kms away and the Jwalaji Temple on top of the Benog Hill. Dedicated to goddess Durga (form of Shakti), the temple is surrounded by dense forests and has excellent views of the Himalayas on one side and the Doon valley and Yamuna river on the other.More difficult treks into the Har-ki-Dun valley also begin at Mussoorie. Literally, Valley of the Lord, this remote trail may be completed in three days, and is usually done from mid-April till mid-November. The trek is arduous, and only seasoned and well-equipped trekkers can accomplish the final stage from the head of the Har-ki-Dun valley across Yamunotri pass. While accommodation is available lower down, in the higher reaches tents must be pitched for overnight halts.
Mussoorie include Jharipani Falls, about 8 kms from Mussoorie, Bhatta Falls 7 kms. on the Mussoorie – Dehradun road and Mossey Falls 7 kms from Mussoorie past Barlowganj. The recently developed Mussoorie Lake, 6 kms down the Mussoorie-Dehradun road, has boating facilities.

By Road Indian Airlines connects Jolly Grant Airport, 24 km from Dehradun, with Delhi. Taxis are available to reach there. The Jolly Grant Airports besides Rishikesh-Dehradun State Highway. Uttaranchal State Road Transport Corporation buses stop in front of Airport Gate
By Rail The nearest railhead is Dehradun which is 34 Kms. from Mussoorie. It is the Northern Railway terminus connected to all major cities such as New Delhi, Mumbai, Howrah, Lucknow, Varanasi, Amritsar, Saharanpur, Haridwar, Rishikesh, Allahabad, Ujjain, Indore, Kathgodam, Okha.
By Road Mussoorie is well connected to all major areas of the region. Direct buses are available for the following places :
