Udham Sing Nagar
This district is the newest district of Kumaon Region. The Udham Singh Nagar as this district is known, was formed in the year 1995 in the month of October.Earlier, a part of Nainital, it was broken and named in the memory of Late Shri Udham Singh who was a great freedom fighter, who had killed General Dyer who was responsible for the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre.
This district is a blend of almost everything .On one hand, where it is basically an industrial district, then on the other it is full of Wildlife and Natural beauty. The Himalayan ranges that surround Udham Singh Nagar are perfect in beauty and serenity.
This district can be rightfully termed as the gateway to Kumaon because on seeing the beauty of this district alone, one can very well imagine what kumaon is waiting to offer. The district comprises of three main sub divisions Rudrapur, Kashipur and Khatima and is surrounded by the exotic Himalayan ranges.

Places To See Udham Singh Nagar
1. Atariya Temple
At a distance of 2 kms. from the bus stand and half a kilometer away from the Rudrapur - Haldwani motor route, is situated the famous temple of Atariya. Every year during the occasion nof 'Navratras' a large fair is held here and thousands of devotees come to seek the blessings of Goddess
Atariya. The fair is held for 10 days.
2. Nanak Matta
Situated at a distance of 56 kms. from Rudrapur on Rudrapur-Tanakpur motor route, Nanakmatta is a great pilgrimage centre of the Sikh religion. Guru Nanak visited this place. Thousands of pilgrims come here throughout the year. A Tourist Rest House and Gurudwara are available for night stay.
3. Purnagiri
Situated at a distance of 21 kms. from Tanakpur the Purnagiri temple is a famous 'Shaktipeeth'. All over the year the temple is crowded with pilgrims who come to seek the blessings of the Goddess. 4. Chaiti Temple
At a distance of 2.5 kms. from Kashipur bus stand on the Kashipur-Bajpur route, is situated the widely known temple of Chaiti Devi, Every year in the month of March during 'Navratras' a grand fair is held here and lackhs of pilgrims come here to worship the Goddess from various places.
